A nice red caught on a recent Mosquito Lagoon fishing trip.

The bite has been really good the past couple of weeks. A good number of snook have made their way into the backwaters of New Smyrna Beach along with jacks and tarpon as well. We have also had a great bite further south through out Mosquito Lagoon targeting redfish on shallow shorelines and nice trout across the flats. Both live bait and artificial have been working well. Throwing plugs up north in the New Smyrna Beach area around the oyster bars has been creating a great bite early. Moving to a spoon later in the day has also worked out great. If fishing south in the Mosquito Lagoon, look for the pods of bait and work around them with the same baits.

It looks like we could be seeing some unstable weather in the next few days, so definitely keep a eye on the forecast.
