This nice red was caught on a guided flats trip this week.

The bite has been good the last few weeks . We have been targeting snook, redfish and trout throughout the backwaters of New Smyrna Beach. We definitely have a good up in coming stock of snook this year. We seem to either boat them just a shy under 28” or over 32”. There has been a lot of keepers caught that I have seen though. The trout bite has been on fire not only in and around New Smyrna Beach but also through out Mosquito Lagoon as well. Look for the pods of bait and the trout will not be far. Top waters early in the morning then moving to soft plastics or live bait as the sun gets higher. You can find the redfish cruising shorelines in the Lagoon as well. Spoons and soft plastics have been working well along with live shrimp presented correctly is almost a guaranteed bite. The traffic on the water has been a little crazy especially on the weekends and with Memorial Day coming up I predict it will busy so be careful and courteous to others.
