With Bike Week in full effect here in Daytona Beach and New Smyrna Beach that is definitely a sign of Spring is around the corner. With Spring around the corner brings a different bite. The water starts to warm just as the days do and the bait will start to show itself in better numbers. This is a good time for plugs, spoons, and soft plastics along with live shrimp and finger mullet. As the water temps continue to warm the fish will be more active. Look for the redfish and trout along the edges of the flats and pot holes throughout Mosquito Lagoon then moving up in the shallows as the day moves on. The snook , jacks and mangrove snapper have been holding in the deeper water throughout the New Smyrna backwaters.
