The seatrout bite has been pretty rock solid.

The fishing continues to be good throughout the New Smyrna Beach waters. This is such a great time of year to fish East Central Florida with all the species we currently have inshore, there are some really fantastic opportunities. The trout and redfish bite have both been great in the Mosquito Lagoon, and we’ve also been boating some really nice-sized snook, jacks, and have even been airing the occasional tarpon.

With the scorching summer sun, the bite has been slowing down by mid morning, so it’s especially important to get an early start to the day. Plugs and top waters early and switching to a spoon after the sun is up has been a good choice that’s been working well for me lately. Live bait from shrimp to mullet are not a horrible idea ever, though, especially once the bite slows down. We still have a lot of bait scattered through out the backwaters and the early morning bite should continue to stay good.
