The bite continues to be good throughout the backwaters of New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon. The good days have been all about timing. We are on our winter time pattern bringing fronts across Central FL every four to five days or so. The key has been to be on the water a couple days after the fronts move through making for the most stable weather and best bite. We have been boating trout, redfish, snook, black drum and the occasional flounder on both live bait and artificial. Live finger mullet and shrimp have been working well targeting redfish and trout in the pot holes . Soft plastics and twitch baits have been triggering a bite along deeper shorelines for snook and the occasional flounder. Look for the weather to stable toward the end of the week and the bite to continue to increase.
