A beautiful trout caught in the backwaters with Capt. Rood.
New Smyrna Beach fishing has been on fire this past month and should only continue to remain great. We have had a consistent trout and redfish bite south, throughout the Mosquito Lagoon. The weather has been extremely hot, but with the early morning breeze it has been making for a steady bite. Look for bait pods to find the big redfish and seatrout that are cruising the backwaters. .
Topwater lures and spoons have been working well around the oyster beds and mud and grass flats further south. Live bait has also been a good choice like pin fish and mullet. There has been a good number of tarpon and jacks scattered throughout the area that are both willing and eager to eat!
