Tarpon have been providing plenty of exhilaration lately.

Great June fishing! June is turning out to be a great month for fishing so far in the Ponce Inlet area. Opportunities for many different species are becoming a daily occurrence. As these first tropical systems have now passed by, we will hopefully enter the summer time lull with great weather nearly every morning and most afternoons through July.

Tarpon have been showing up nearshore in good numbers and we have hooked and boated some giants this week. Most of the clients had never hooked into a fish like a 100lb tarpon so it really made for some great days! We have also been hooking some drag screaming 6’ long 100lb sharks along with the tarpon.

Big bull reds have remained consistent with multiple trophy fish on nearly every charter. These fish are just the right combination of power and fight length to allow anyone to catch an awesome fish without the full-on battle of catching a 100lb+ tarpon.

Back country and flats fishing in the Mosquito Lagoon and Ponce Inlet area has continued to be productive but our primary focus has been on the larger fish that have been giving us opportunities this past week. I’ll be spending some time fly fishing the back country later this coming week.
