This weeks fishing activity has pretty much been a mirror image of last week’s. Fishing early or late during high heat conditions is usually beneficial to both the angler and your catch.
Surf fishing is producing some whiting, along with a stray bluefish, Pompano, or bonnet head shark. Fishing Pompano rigs, baited with shrimp or fish bites, during an incoming tide cycle, is usually best.
The inlets are holding a few Redfish, black drum and mangrove snapper. During mornings and nights they are producing a few snook and tarpon.
Inshore fishing has been a little slow. Mostly mangrove snapper and an occasional flounder. Follow the same formula of fishing early or late. Try some of the backwater creeks, some of them have produced better catches.
Offshore lots of anglers are prefishing their snapper hot spots, with great success. Also occasionally finding grouper, triggerfish, mangrove snapper, cobia and more. Keep a drift line out the back while bottom fishing. Many times this produces a bonus catch. Trolling the reefs is producing king mackerel, and a few barracudas. Trolling the 100’ to 200’ corridor is still giving an occasional dolphin or Wahoo.
Get out there and enjoy our beautiful outdoor. Let’s go get em!
Reminder: Snapper season- July 10th thru the 12th and the 17th.
