The bite has been good the last couple of weeks from Daytona Beach south through New Smyrna Beach and into Mosquito Lagoon. The backwaters and flats have been flooded with bait and all the game fish have been right there with them. Early morning top water has been productive on the shallow flats and north around the oyster beds. The water clarity seems to still be good making for good sight fishing as the sun gets higher. Pitching soft plastics and spoons have been working well, but you can’t go wrong with a live shrimp or finger mullet as well.
