Tomoka Basin: The inshore bite has been pretty slow overall the last couple of weeks. There have still been some redfish caught but not much to speak of in the way of trout and flounder. As the waters warm, we should start to see that change.

Offshore: The bottom bite has been very good when the weather cooperates. We are fishing in 80’ to 150 feet of water. A variety of baits have been working. We always try to sabiki up live bait before heading offshore to our favorite bottom spots but that doesn’t always happen. Frozen sardines and squid have brought up a number of tasty species such as mangrove snapper, lane snapper and triggerfish. As the temperatures warm, I would expect we will begin to mahi show up in the not to distant future.

Nearshore: The last couple of weeks we’ve experienced a really nice cobia bite but it seems to have slowed a little this week. There were reports the water cooled a bit which may have pushed them south towards Brevard. If that’s the case, then they should be coming back through anytime.

Surf: The surf has been the talk of the town. It’s just been hot! Anglers are catching whiting, pompano, sheepshead, black drum and an occasional redfish here and there. If targeting pompano, the best baits have been live sand fleas, clams and Fishbites. The whiting, black drum and redfish will all eat frozen shrimp and clams.

We are currently open our normal hours, Mon-Fri 7am-6pm, Sat 6am-9pm, Sun 6am-5pm. Come on by and let us help you get set up for a successful day on the water.

Located at the foot of the Main Street Bridge, this fully stocked bait and tackle shop serves inshore and offshore anglers with its complete assortment of saltwater, freshwater and fly fishing supplies. The shop also offers line spooling, rod and reel repairs, and has parts for most reels and more.
