I teamed up with some fellow shark fishing guides, NSB Shark Hunters, this week to help out on some surf fishing trips. As most know, Volusia county is the shark bite capital of the WORLD, with sharks of all sizes and types here year round.

This week we had several clients come in from all over the country. The highlight came on Friday night when we were able to get a young man on the biggest fish of his life — a 61″ blacktip. Right after landing that incredible fish, we hooked up with a nice bull shark that we lost just a few yards off the beach. Other than the sharks this week, the usual suspects have been in play: whiting, croakers, and a few pompano in the surf along with tarpon, bull redfish, and trout.

Remember that if you plan to get out and target sharks off beach, the state requires that you have the free land-based shark course completed along with a saltwater fishing license — be it the free shoreline license, or the pay saltwater license.
