Spring is in full swing here in New Smyrna Beach. We have a good amount of bait flowing through the intracoastal and filtering into the Mosquito Lagoon. The flats have been alive with trout, redfish, snook and flounder. The artificial bite has not been bad at all. While throwing plugs early has been productive early, then moving to soft plastics and spoons later in the day. The live bait bite has been even better with great results on live finger mullet early then moving to shrimp later in the morning. The backwaters of New Smyrna have been producing the same results along with some jacks and blue fish, as well. Targeting the mangrove shorelines and oyster beds have been producing great numbers of fish.
