I hope everyone had a safe and happy Memorial Day. I would like to thank all of our service men and women for what they do and have done to protect our great nation.
It was definitely hot this past week and it looks like the extreme heat is here to stay. With the summer weather brings a different style of fishing along with a pretty good bite. As the water starts to warm, the bites will be more directed to the mornings and evenings as those are the cooler times of the day. The fish have been chewing both live bait and artificial baits throughout the lagoon. Pig fish, shrimp, pin fish and mullet have all been working good. Plugs, soft plastics and spoons have been getting the job done, as well.
The bite in Mosquito Lagoon has also been pretty steady with a decent amount of bait starting to show up on the flats. As the bait continues to show up, look at targeting the pods early on the shallows and later moving to the drop offs as the day heats up.
