A snook caught on a recent trip with Capt. Mike.

The weather in New Smyrna Beach has been a little crazy the past few days between the storms, heat and humidity. On that note, though — the bite has also been hot as well, not just in New Smyrna Beach but also north into Daytona Beach and south through out Mosquito Lagoon.

We have been bringing several trout and redfish boat side along with some snook, flounder and jacks in the mix. If artificial bait is your choice of poison then a early start targeting bait pods on the flats of the lagoon or around oyster beds further north into Daytona. Top water plugs have been working well early then switching to spoons and soft plastics later. I have not forgot about you live bait guys. Finger mullet and medium shrimp have been working really good around the structure up north and on the shallow flats of Mosquito Lagoon.
