We celebrated "Shark Week" our own special way in the surf of New Smyrna Beach!

To honor “Shark Week” from New Smyrna Beach, sometimes called “the shark bite capital of the world,” I teamed up with the legendary Wayne Bennett of Shark Fishing NSB and Dustin Smith of NSB Shark Hunters for a week full of fun charters and family trips on the days off.

All in all a good week in the surf, we were met with flat surf and clean water. On top of the sharks, the finger mullet pods are starting to move and hot on their tails are the other predator fish. If you’re looking for fish for dinner, you’re in luck because the large resident pompano and whiting are still running! The usual baits have been the key. That includes fresh dead shrimp, live and frozen sand fleas, and crab. If you’re looking for something else, try near the rocks of the jetty, where flounder, sheepshead, and red and black drum are all contributing to a hot bite.
